On a sweltering early-summer night, at the end of an exhausting workday for many, a precious gift was just what was needed. And what better gift than a 30-year-old man from Glasgow who sings about positive emotions and manages to convey them with such raw, uncompromising sincerity? At Fiera Milano Live, international music continues to reign supreme, and yesterday, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, it was Lewis Marc Capaldi’s turn—featuring special guests the excellent Angelica Bove, fresh off her inclusion in the 2026 class of Spotify Radar Italia, and Temper City. One of the most authentic voices on the British music scene, he’s back on stage and even on an international tour. Pants and a long-sleeved striped polo shirt—a perfect choice for any show in the UK, perhaps, but a misstep in Milan’s sweltering heat. A choice that was the only misstep in an unforgettable evening, as flawless as Lewis’s voice, which live feels like an unexpected caress, given that his persona is so distinctly marked by two traits: sincerity and irony. That typical British humor you might not expect from someone who has so skillfully captured breakups, love, and the loss of dear ones in songs that are now universally recognized. But it’s there, thankfully, and we got a taste of it watching him on stage.
“It’s been a long time—a really long time—since I came back. I had to take a break. I missed you guys, too—thank you so much, really! Yeah, I had to take a break in 2023 for my mental health. I wasn’t doing very well. Yeah. Thanks for applauding that—it’s kind of weird. I wasn’t doing well at all. Woo! Come on! Anyway, I’m just kidding. It’s insanely hot out here—crazy hot. Long sleeves were a terrible choice. So I had to take a break for my mental health. But I’m really happy to say that I’m doing well now. I’m fine, I feel like my old self again, and I feel great. I mean, right now I’m sweating like crazy, but other than that, my mental health is really good. Anyway, thank you so much for being here. I think this is the biggest concert we’ve ever played outside the UK, so thank you so much for coming. It’s incredible to see so many people here, so thank you from the bottom of my heart. And yes, we have a lot of songs to play tonight. A lot. So many. They’re almost all ballads, so… if you came here to party, you’re in the wrong place,” he said as he spoke to the fans.
We didn’t come to the wrong place, dear Lewis. Because, in any case, the Milan show was a warm embrace that everyone deserves. Thanks to his best songs and a well-crafted setlist. Even though it wasn’t California, but Rho. It hardly matters; in fact, it’s even better. Because Lewis Capaldi brought us a breath of fresh air—something that’s no longer a given in music these days.
