“Have you ever imagined that a place can have its own soul?” asked Edoardo Tresoldi at the beginning of his talk at TEDxBologna back in 2017. Today, in 2024, he is one of the most established artists on the national scene and beyond, thanks to a very personal but also shareable narrative. A story where space is the protagonist and also the medium, investigating the poetics of the dialogue between man and landscape through architectural language as an expressive tool.
Art and the world meet. In fact, a material like wire mesh, entrusted to the right hands and the right artistic sensibility and wisdom, becomes the protagonist of works that contrast and at the same time blend with the surrounding landscape. The watchword, contamination. That between the landscape and the work, that between the physical and the metaphysical world, that between space and time, where limits dissolve.
Since 2013 Edoardo Tresoldi has been bringing his installations to public spaces, archaeological contexts, festivals and exhibitions around the world. In 2016, in fact, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, he realized the authorial intervention in the archaeological excavation of the Basilica of Siponto, a unique convergence between contemporary art and archaeology awarded with the Gold Medal for Italian Architecture. In 2018 he lands in one of the world’s best-known festivals, Coachella, with the work “Etherea.” In 2019 he presents “Symbiosis” for the prestigious context of Arte Sella, while, in 2020, he inaugurates the permanent installation “Opera” in Reggio Calabria.
