90s Backstage Obsession: backstage glamour

The 1990s are back to the rescue. We have seen them as an inspiration in fashion shows, in design, in cinema, in the comeback of undisputed icons of the final and most talked-about decade of the 20th century, amid contradictions and fascination that today more than ever resonates familiar, if distant. Certainly, it was an era that marked an incredible and enduring influence, representing a decisive watershed in the international fashion scene; therefore, it is practically impossible not to look back on the 1990s with a touch of nostalgia, even for those who never actually lived through those years.

Nostalgia for a time when there were only a few who dictated the fashion system, where legendary designers with boundless talent were the trendsetters, where there was still a desire to dare, to experiment, but staying grounded. To make buyers dream with desirable collections that could be worn for real. And then there were them, the supermodels, a cultural phenomenon that involved the whole world. Their entrance on the runways was the most anticipated moment of every show, creating exciting moments of pure magic.

Magic that began even before the fashion show, because the beating heart of this frenzy made of glamour and hard work was palpable especially backstage. There was Kate, Naomi, Christy, Carla, Linda, Claudia; some liked to touch up their make-up, others smoked a cigarette, and still others laughed and joked with each other to pass the time. Immortal shots that exude beauty, youth, creativity, hedonism and zest for life. Real shots that are a portrait of an era that, although we still try to replicate, will never return.
