It’s a wonderful new day for Peter Parker. Especially when waking up brings incredible numbers that put smiles on the faces of the stars and producers. It’s been only a few days since “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” hit theaters, and the results are already incredible. The film has recorded the best opening ever in Italy for a Spider-Man movie and for a Sony Pictures film, with over 16 million euros and 2 million viewers in just five days, across the 543 theaters where it was distributed by Eagle Pictures.
Credit goes to the lead actors—Tom Holland and Zendaya above all—but also to a story that’s winning over virtually everyone, to the point that some are wondering if this is the best Spider-Man ever. There’s no answer to that question yet, but what we do know is that it has already broken numerous records. For example, it holds the record for the best opening weekend of 2026, the best opening weekend for a film released in July, the best debut for a Marvel film released on a non-holiday weekend, the best opening weekend for a film featuring a single superhero, the second-best opening weekend for a U.S. film since March 2021 and for a Marvel film (behind only *Avengers: Endgame*), the third-best opening weekend of all time for a U.S. film, as well as the best opening weekend in the *Spider-Man* franchise and for a Sony Pictures film.
These figures mirror those being recorded globally. On its opening weekend, the film grossed a total of $927 million worldwide, claiming second place on the list of the best debuts of all time—trailing only “Avengers: Endgame” — the best result ever for Sony Pictures, but also the best debut ever for a “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” film. This success was split between the U.S., where the film grossed $355 million across more than 4,400 American theaters, and $572 million in the other 66 international markets where it debuted, for a total of more than 70,000 screens, including Italy.
