Once upon a time… No, sorry, maybe we got a little too carried away. Because when we talk about fairy tales, we’re talking about Disney, and when we talk about Disney, we’re talking about the movies that shaped our childhoods. And when we talk about the movies that shaped our childhoods and about Disney, we think of the dream that every one of us—or almost every one of us—had as a child: going to Disneyland. Because if it’s true that “dreams are wishes for happiness,” there’s a place in the world where those dreams seem to actually come true. But even though the emotions we feel—and we’re sure you feel them too—are still incredibly strong today, looking at these very personal slides from Disneylands of the past has swept us into a whirlwind of memories. The reason is simple: it’s not just a theme park. And in the glorious ’90s, when information was scarce and dreams were plentiful, it proved that beyond a doubt. But even before that—let’s be honest.
Opened in July 1955 under the direct supervision of Walt Disney, this magnificent California theme park has expanded its concept worldwide—including to Tokyo, Paris, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. These are corners of the world where Disney magic comes to life every day for families and fans around the globe—and has been doing so for more than 70 years. In 2025, the famous theme park celebrated its anniversary; when it first opened, it embodied Walt Disney’s hope that his park would become “a source of joy and inspiration for the whole world” through entertainment, decorations, shows, merchandise, and much more. Mission accomplished, we might say.
Over the years, the parks’ aesthetics have also changed, evolving into a more modern style characterized by bright colors and enhanced by technological advancements that have enabled the development of a wide variety of attractions and shows. What has remained unchanged over time, however, is the charm that these places—just like the Disney movies themselves—continue to evoke, drawing millions of visitors from all over the world who are ready to become children again and dream once more.
