Mom is always mom. But so is daddy. I mean, let’s face it: the years pass, but these cornerstones remain. And affection for our parents remains unchanged, even over time. But it’s not only true for us ordinary citizens or social media users: it’s the same for movie and entertainment stars, too.
During the Oscars and the last Golden Globes, it was a riot of celebrities who chose to be accompanied not by their partners, but by their parents. Like Michael B. Jordan, fresh Oscar winner for Best Actor in a Leading Role, who throughout the awards season was not separated from his mother Donna, to whom he dedicated the award from the Dolby Theatre stage.
There is a video that went viral after the Golden Globes, already a cult moment on the web: the one in which DiCaprio and Elordi, backstage, greet each other while also introducing their mothers, both of whom were present. A tender and sincere moment, confirmed by many other instances.
Because next to Elordi was not only mom Melissa, but also dad John, who was absent at the Oscars. So was Leo, with Mama Irmelin by his side. There’s no getting around it: years pass, successes and projects increase, but parents remain a piece of the heart. Just ask Glen Powell, with his mother Cyndy and … Glen Powell Sr.
The examples are many. Joaquin Phoenix, in 2020, won the Oscar for Joker, accompanied not only by Rooney Mara, but also by mom Arlyn, whom he made hold the statuette. Or Zoe Saldaña, who could not celebrate without her mother Asalia.
Recognitions to be celebrated with those who have been there from day one. Like Miley Cyrus, always close to mom Tish. Or Timothée Chalamet, who, for a Marty Supreme premiere, also matched his look with Mom Nicole’s. And again: Bradley Cooper with mom Gloria, Margot Robbie with mom Sarie, and Ryan Gosling with Donna Gosling.
Whether it is for an award ceremony, an award show or an event, the reality is one: the best +1 is the parents. Right?
