There is something deeply Milanese and irresistibly chic about Sant Ambroeus’ pastries and cafes. From 1936 to the present, the brand has built a rock-solid reputation: wherever you are in the world, the experience remains impeccable, with attention to detail in the Milanese tradition. Not surprisingly, its international locations have become true havens for Italians abroad and devotees of the Italian lifestyle.
And while one of the symbols of Italian flavors is thinking about expansion, such as Sant Ambroeus’ next stop in Beverly Hills, there is also an important birthday to celebrate. We are talking about the 90th anniversary of Sant Ambroeus, which will be celebrated during Design Week in Milan, with an event at the Corso Matteotti venue: selected guests, historical customers and friends of the brand will be able to watch the live preparation of the iconic “princess” cakes, customized for the occasion, and much more. Space will also be given to people, with special recognition for longtime employees, who have been with the company for more than 25 years.
The 90th anniversary celebrations will also move to New York, where the SoHo store will instead host an art installation designed by Tess Ramirez, conceived as a visual narrative of the brand’s history and presented during Frieze. On the food front, new menu items arrive, including the “Milano 36” cocktail, served in custom glasses with the brand’s signature dove. And for the first time, a fashion capsule debuts as well: limited-edition hat, scarf, tote and sweater, designed as true collector’s pieces. A first, because until now Sant Ambroeus had never signed its own garments without collaborations.
But the gaze is already cast beyond. Founded in the Quadrilateral by two pastry chefs from the Cattaneo family, Sant Ambroeus’ international expansion began as early as the 1980s with New York’s first Madison Avenue, then SoHo and West Village, to destinations such as the Hamptons, Palm Beach, and Aspen. It recently arrived in Paris, while the U.S. growth plan accelerates: by 2027 new openings are planned between Los Angeles, Miami, and Dallas; Beverly Hills will arrive by 2026, followed by Brentwood, while Dallas (Knox District) and South Beach will complete the American mosaic.
