Milan Men’s Fashion Week SS27: The Fashion Shows to Remember

Milan Men’s Fashion Week SS27 has officially come to a close, and if I had to sum it up in a single word, it would undoubtedly be “hot”—not just because of the temperatures, which became something of a running joke among industry insiders and guests at every event, but above all because of the way men will be dressing next summer. For many brands, this aesthetic proved to be more distinctive, defined, and self-assured than usual. It was a short but intense week, during which menswear reaffirmed its creative directions, oscillating between heritage, minimalism, and new narratives.

Among the first highlights is Dolce&Gabbana, which reaffirms its status as a master not only of tailoring but also of crafting imagery that stands the test of time. “Vacanze Siciliane” is the title of the collection, which translates the fashion house’s heritage into pieces that are both timeless and contemporary. A runway show that restores Sicily’s cinematic, cultural, and identity-defining value, without ever succumbing to nostalgia for its own sake, but rather projecting it into the future. The Dolce&Gabbana man retains his signature style: rosaries around the neck, coppole hats reimagined for summer, and ultra-lightweight lace-ups paired with leather sandals. The entire collection unfolds within a color palette that evokes the Sicilian earth and light, featuring soft, vacation-inspired silhouettes that remain impeccably chic. The details, as is often the case with the fashion house, tell a story: meticulous, precise, almost obsessive in their perfection. There are love stories that never end, and the one between Dolce&Gabbana and Sicily continues to be the clearest proof of this.

With Prada, on the other hand, we see the opposite approach: subtraction. Subtraction in terms of decoration, but also of volume. By the end of the show, the strongest message had gone viral, and everyone was hailing the return of skinny jeans. A single style, available in various materials and colors, paired with minimalist jackets or knitwear that reinterprets the brand’s graphic motifs, such as diamonds. It’s “less is more” taken to the extreme, where every element seems stripped down to its essence to make way for form.

Giorgio Armani’s collection, titled “Mercato Mediterraneo,” moves instead toward light, travel, and encounter. It is a collection shaped by the Mediterranean as a cultural space even before a geographical one, traversed by stories, cultures, and inspirations that intertwine in the spirit of transformation. Guided by the vision of Leo Dell’Orco and Silvana Armani, the tailoring embraces distant influences, softens in the sunlight, and becomes an expression of a natural, essential, almost instinctive elegance. There were many, many looks—an explosion of personalities imbued with a zest for life and the art of elegance. After all, when speaking of Armani, it is impossible not to mention the concept of elegance, which the fashion house continues to champion without compromise—yet with the certainty that it will never become boring or banal.

Speaking of emerging designers, one of the most interesting surprises of this Fashion Week is Domenico Orefice with “HABITAT,” which marks a new chapter in his creative journey that began four years ago. Domenico Orefice introduces floral motifs, stripes, and pops of bright red that add new nuances to the brand’s aesthetic, while relaxed proportions, layering, and deliberately open details convey a sense of authenticity and comfort. The presentation also reinforces this imagery: a home in transformation that comes to life through objects, rituals, and the presence of people, crafting a narrative that is more emotional than purely aesthetic.
