Milan Fashion Week SS27: Prada kicks off (for the first time) a lineup that’s yet to be finalized

Milan Fashion Week is beginning to reveal its plans. The National Chamber of Italian Fashion has released the first—still provisional—schedule for the week dedicated to the Spring/Summer 2027 collections, scheduled for September 22–28. Amid confirmations, debuts, and possible updates in the coming weeks, one thing is already certain: Prada will open Milan Fashion Week for the first time. The fashion house led by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons will officially kick off the event on Tuesday, September 22, at 2 p.m., marking a shift from the balance that has characterized recent seasons. This decision may also be linked to the packed schedule for the opening day, which will see Milan come alive with side events, including the highly anticipated Vogue World.

The schedule released by CNMI, however, is not yet final. The lineup is bound to evolve with new additions and possible changes, but it already offers an initial snapshot of the fashion week that will usher Milan into the spring-summer collection season. For now, 60 runway shows are scheduled—54 in-person and six digital—in addition to more than 90 events in total, including presentations and other activities. Following Prada, Diesel will close out the opening day, while Fendi will show on Wednesday, Gucci on Friday, and Dolce&Gabbana on Saturday. Giorgio Armani will bring the runway shows to a close on Sunday, September 27.

Among the most anticipated events is the debut of Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, founders of Sunnei and recently appointed creative directors of Moschino. This will be their first collection for the Aeffe Group’s fashion house, following the handover after Adrian Appiolaza’s departure. Fashion Week is also opening its doors to new international designers. Marques’Almeida, Miguel Vieira, Neithan Herbert, and Victor-Hart are joining the in-person schedule, while Banke Kuku, Mastewal Alemu, and Timisola Shasanya will make their debuts via the digital program, confirming CNMI’s commitment to broadening its focus to include emerging designers from various countries.

There will be plenty of events dedicated to emerging talent. On September 22, the Fashion Hub will open at Palazzo Morando, while on September 27, Milano Moda Graduate will return—the fashion show that brings together students from Italy’s leading fashion schools. There’s also news on the sustainability front. Starting in 2027, the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards will give way to the CNMI Creative and Sustainable Fashion Awards, a new format set to debut at La Scala that aims to recognize creativity and sustainability as two complementary pillars of the fashion industry’s future. The final schedule will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, Milan Fashion Week is already laying the groundwork for the upcoming season, which we hope will welcome us back after the summer break with the right amount of energy—and, above all, with some exciting new developments.
