MIKIMOTO and Chrome Hearts have teamed up for a new 22-karat gold jewelry capsule collection

The second collaboration between the historic Japanese house and the American cult brand celebrates the union of luminous Akoya pearls and Chrome Hearts’ now-iconic gothic aesthetic. Founded in 1893 by Kokichi Mikimoto, the MIKIMOTO house is considered the pioneer of pearl cultivation. After successfully creating the world’s first cultured pearl, Mikimoto revolutionized fine jewelry, transforming a treasure of nature into a symbol of artisanal excellence. To this day, the Japanese brand remains synonymous with timeless sophistication, thanks to its famous Akoya pearls and a savoir-faire that, for over a century, has stood as one of the finest examples of Japanese luxury.

Chrome Hearts, on the other hand, is of a completely different nature—a brand perhaps best known to the general public thanks in part to the numerous custom pieces sported this year by the Kardashian-Jenner family. Founded in Los Angeles in 1988 by Richard Stark, the brand initially focused primarily on clothing and accessories for motorcyclists, but it quickly established itself as a leading name in contemporary jewelry thanks to its unmistakable aesthetic featuring Gothic crosses, floral motifs, sterling silver, and artisanal craftsmanship. Today, Chrome Hearts is a true cult favorite, beloved by artists, musicians, and fashion icons for its unconventional approach to luxury—one that’s a bit dark and mysterious.

Following the success of their first collaboration, MIKIMOTO and Chrome Hearts are joining forces once again for the second installment of one of the most highly anticipated partnerships in the world of contemporary fine jewelry. While the debut collection focused on white gold and pearls, this new capsule collection features 22-karat yellow gold, a finish that lends the pieces a warmer, richer character with a slightly vintage charm. The collection is the result of the meeting between MIKIMOTO’s artisanal excellence—renowned for its prized Akoya pearls and natural diamonds—and Chrome Hearts’ unmistakable rock-and-goth aesthetic. The result is a selection of five handcrafted pieces: a necklace with a cross pendant, a bracelet featuring a Pearl and Cross motif, a brooch, and two styles of dangling earrings.

The undisputed star of the capsule collection is the 22K Gold Cross Pearl Necklace, a necklace that combines Chrome Hearts’ iconic floral cross with a selection of perfectly matched MIKIMOTO Akoya pearls and pavé-set diamonds. Produced in extremely limited quantities, the Chrome Hearts x MIKIMOTO collection will be available exclusively at Chrome Hearts’ flagship boutiques in Tokyo, London, and New York, as well as at MIKIMOTO’s main boutique in Tokyo’s Ginza district. In an era marked by brand collaborations, this capsule collection represents a more nuanced union: two seemingly opposing worlds come together—on one hand, the centuries-old tradition of Japanese fine jewelry; on the other, the rebellious, underground aesthetic that has made Chrome Hearts one of the most influential brands in contemporary luxury. The result is a collection that reinterprets the classic in a bold new way, while preserving the exceptional craftsmanship of both brands.
