It is now redundant to repeat how sports and fashion inevitably go in the same direction. Inextricably bound together by codes that may seem distant but are ceaselessly intertwined, in a world that pays increasing attention to aesthetics, even on the playing fields of the most diverse sports. In this context, the international soccer scene, which is increasingly attentive to form, aesthetics, and oriented to important collaborations capable of giving rise to unique products, obviously cannot be an exception.
This is also the case for Manchester United, which, at the recent Premier League match against Sunderland – a match that later ended in a goalless draw – saw Carrick’s team take to the green rectangle in a look that echoed a trend this year: the Chinese jacket.
Made by adidas and sported by the Red Devils in a custom version as part of a pre-match kit for their arrival on the Stadium of Light turf, the viral Chinese-inspired jacket was sported by Man Utd in a gray version, where the devil logo was placed on the right side of the chest in front of the classic shamrock, the brand’s symbol.
Inspired by the meeting of East and West, these are sporty garments enriched with details, such as button closures, clearly inspired by traditional Chinese dress codes. They also became available in Europe after the huge success found by those who bought the garments directly in China, with this collection of his adidas Originals was able to give life, more than just jackets, to true statements of movement, culture and contemporary style.
