An evening of music, glamour and solidarity was staged at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where King Charles and Queen Camilla celebrated 50 years of the King’s Trust, the charity founded by the sovereign in 1976, when he was still Prince of Wales. For the occasion, the royal family welcomed some of Hollywood’s most beloved stars: from George and Amal Clooney to Benedict Cumberbatch and Idris Elba to artists who took the stage such as Rita Ora, Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones, and Rod Stewart.
The event paid tribute to the work carried out over the decades by the King’s Trust, which was established with the goal of helping struggling youth find new opportunities and build their futures.
For the evening, the big stars King Charles and Queen Camilla chose two matching looks, in full royal style. The sovereign went for an impeccable classic suit, in royal blue of course, with a white shirt and patterned tie, once again confirming his penchant for more traditional elegance. Camilla, on the other hand, wore a bright lace suit in the same shade of blue, complemented by an eggplant-colored cape that added a sophisticated and decidedly regal twist to the look.
Also among the most photographed of the evening were George and Amal Clooney. The lawyer shone in a long Alexander McQueen gown from the Fall 2007 collection: a slinky silhouette entirely covered in gold sequins that drew elegant geometric patterns, paired with gold pumps. George Clooney, by his side, went the way of his iconic effortless elegance instead, wearing a classically cut midnight blue suit and black lace-ups.
Also capturing the flashes was Lily Collins, in a metallic strapless dress with a slinky silhouette and midi length, featuring a structured neckline. Benedict Cumberbatch, on the other hand, opted for a brown suit paired with a slightly unbuttoned white shirt and no tie, reminding us once again that the most casual British charm remains a certainty.
