Kering appoints Romain Spitzer as the new CEO of Bottega Veneta

Romain Spitzer is the new CEO of Bottega Veneta. The appointment, announced by Kering in a press release on its channels, will take effect on September 1. Based in Milan, Spitzer will report directly to the group’s CEO, Luca de Meo, and will join Kering’s executive committee. Spitzer comes from LVMH, where he served as president and CEO of the Fragrance Group at LVMH Beauty. The appointment concludes the succession process that began following the departure of Bartolomeo Rongone, who moved to Moncler last March.

In the press release, Kering emphasizes that Spitzer “has consistently strengthened brand value, promoted innovation, and led high-performing international teams in diverse markets,” further highlighting how his deep understanding of the global luxury sector and his ability to support the long-term growth of the fashion houses make him the ideal candidate to lead Bottega Veneta into its next phase of development. A graduate of ESCP Business School, Spitzer began his career at Guerlain in 1995. After stints at Jean Paul Gaultier Parfums and Yves Saint Laurent Parfums, he joined Parfums Christian Dior in 2006, where he established himself as one of the leading experts in the fragrance industry, contributing to the development and success of Dior Sauvage, now one of the world’s best-selling fragrances. In 2016, he was appointed president and CEO of LVMH Fragrance Brands (Parfums Givenchy and Kenzo). Subsequently, his scope of responsibility was expanded to include Maison Francis Kurkdjian, Acqua di Parma, Loewe Perfumes, Officine Universelle Buly, and new initiatives within the group.

According to a statement from Kering, Spitzer will be tasked with further enhancing Bottega Veneta’s appeal, strengthening its relationship with customers worldwide, and elevating the excellence of its retail network. The appointment is part of the strategy outlined by Luca de Meo to unlock the brand’s growth potential, with a particular focus on developing non-leather goods categories under the creative direction of Louise Trotter. Bottega is, in fact, best known for its leather goods: the current challenge is therefore to expand the brand’s image beyond this category.

“Bottega Veneta is one of the most solid and distinctive luxury fashion houses, with exceptional savoir-faire, a unique creative identity, and significant growth potential. Romain possesses the leadership, vision, and international experience necessary to guide this new phase of development,” said Luca de Meo, expressing full confidence in Spitzer and noting that this appointment marks a new chapter, taking the brand to the “next level.”
