Perhaps Carlo Verdone found the right definition back in 1995 in that “Honeymooners,” in which he addressed Claudia Gerini. We do not know if Harry Styles knows the story of Ivano and Jessica, given his long stay in Rome. But that definition used by the actor’s character is accurate: the British singer made it weird. And we refer to “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,” the new record released today Friday, March 6, 2026. Which has displaced on the whole, but it is not strange in a negative sense. Far from it.
It is wonderfully abnormal, so much so that it justifies this old-fashioned action of sitting on the couch, stopping-as he says in “Season 2 Weight Loss”-and listening to a record from start to finish. Harry, after unplugging, traveling around Europe, changing houses, books, cars and papers, has drawn a clear line. He has re-established priorities that before were perhaps not so defined even for him. And that emerge in 12 tracks. Danceable, because 10 out of 12 are uptempo, infected with killer bass, funky rhythms and Tom Skinner-curated percussion, but that doesn’t make the two ballads, “Paint By Numbers” and “Coming Up Roses,” out of place. At times overflowing, at times exciting, at times vague. On the whole beautiful precisely in its instability: that of us in our twenties embracing our thirties and being a bit unsettled by how quickly time has passed and a future that is still hazy. There are no more sequins or that joyous drunkenness, but a more melancholy and existential hangover.
“Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally” is a love record after a night at the disco. Even the scrappiest one. Love for your ex that you’re down for like desperate. One-night stand love. Love for the love of your life. Love for yourself, that at 32 years old – Harry, in this case – maybe you’ve found your place in the world. Or maybe you’re still looking for it. Although your place, after all, was already there: on the roof of the world. On a stage with thousands of people in front of you. Or simply in the studio making an album that may seem like the least usual Harry Styles has given us, but it was needed.
