That fashion is one of the main economic engines of Milan and, by extension, of the whole of Lombardy, is a well-established fact. Some time ago we had already analyzed the economic impact generated by fashion weeks distributed throughout the year on national turnover. It is not surprising, therefore, that the Lombardy Region today chooses to invest decisively in the fashion system, introducing new measures to support companies in the sector.
In fact, today’s news is the debut of the Tertium call for proposals, with an endowment of 3.5 million euros: the first in Italy designed to accompany SMEs in fashion and craftsmanship of excellence in a structured way on a path of evolutionary growth. Alongside Tertium, a complementary measure also takes shape: acceleration vouchers, funded with 270,000 euros. The initiative aims to enhance the managerial and strategic skills of SMEs, supporting them through customized paths at accredited facilities.
Debora Massari, Lombardy Region’s councillor for tourism, territorial marketing and fashion, told MFF that “With these initiatives we strengthen our commitment to concretely supporting Lombard fashion and design companies. The goal is to enhance innovation, quality and international openness by providing tools capable of accompanying SMEs along paths of real growth: from the transformation of production processes to market consolidation as competitive and recognizable brands.”
The Tertium call puts business transformation at the center: not just economic support, but a strategic lever to foster the evolution of companies from subcontractors to autonomous and distinctive players. A paradigm shift that passes through premium positioning, diversification of offerings and the development of strong, identity-based brands. The most innovative elements include collaborations with emerging creatives and the introduction of models such as “work for equity.”
Fundable projects cover a wide range of interventions: from digital and ecological transition to strengthening brand identity. Grants of up to 60 percent of eligible expenses are available, for a maximum of 150,000 euros, against minimum investments of 60,000 euros. Costs covered include machinery, technologies, specialized consulting, training and design activities. An excellent initiative to support d what is, for all intents and purposes, one of the country’s most fertile creative and economic sectors.
