Today, that anticipation has finally taken a concrete form: for the ceremony, Dua Lipa wore a custom Chanel Haute Couture gown, handcrafted in the ateliers at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris and a testament to the house’s savoir-faire, but above all, the first wedding dress designed by Matthieu Blazy for Chanel—a debut that adds an extra layer of meaning to the look. Specifically, it is a one-of-a-kind creation to which several Maisons d’art also contributed, participating in the creation of the intricate decorative details. Entirely hand-embroidered with 480,000 beads by Atelier Montex and embellished with trompe-l’œil jewels created by Lesage—which required 1,155 hours of needlework— the gown—complete with a two-meter train—is also delicately finished with 25,000 feathers applied by Lemarié. Rounding out the bridal look is a six-meter-long tulle veil, hand-embroidered with beads and feathers and embellished with hand-cut organza appliqués. On her feet, white satin pumps custom-made by Massaro.
In the days leading up to the wedding, during the pre-wedding party, the singer had already hinted at a different stylistic direction with a custom Bottega Veneta gown featuring an off-the-shoulder neckline and a mermaid silhouette characterized by the brand’s iconic woven design, crafted to hug the body with architectural precision—a look that had inevitably raised expectations for her ceremony outfit amid various sightings in Sicily.
