After teasing its debut last July, Chrome Hearts and MIKIMOTO are back to reveal new details about their second collaboration, offering a closer look at the jewelry pieces that make up this exquisite capsule collection. While the first teaser had already highlighted the fusion of the Californian brand’s gothic and irreverent aesthetic with the Japanese maison’s timeless elegance, the new images now allow us to focus more closely on the individual pieces and the details that define the collection.
The project marks the second chapter in the partnership between Chrome Hearts and MIKIMOTO, following an initial collaboration centered on white gold. This time, however, as previewed at the launch, the two brands have opted for a decidedly warmer hue: 22-karat yellow gold, paired with MIKIMOTO’s luminous Akoya pearls and natural diamonds. This choice also changes the perception of the entire collection, giving it a more intense, textured character with a vintage feel.
The collection includes five handcrafted pieces: a necklace with a cross pendant, a bracelet featuring the Pearl and Cross motif, a safety-pin-inspired brooch, and two different styles of dangling earrings. The cross—an instantly recognizable element of the Chrome Hearts aesthetic—thus becomes the central theme of the entire capsule collection, creating a dialogue with the shapes and luster of Akoya pearls. Among the most iconic pieces is the 22K Gold Cross Pearl Necklace, which brings this contrast together within a single piece of jewelry. The necklace, for which we now have photographic material, combines Akoya pearls selected by MIKIMOTO with Chrome Hearts’ iconic floral cross, embellished with pavé diamonds and accompanied by an additional pendant cross element. The result is a reinterpretation of the classic pearl necklace, stripped of its traditional ladylike charm and transformed into a piece with a decidedly more rock-and-roll and daring character. Rounding out the collection, the gold brooch brings one of the symbols most closely associated with punk culture into the world of fine jewelry, while the bracelet and earrings further explore the contrast between the preciousness of the pearls and Chrome Hearts’ gothic aesthetic.
The capsule collection was released in extremely limited quantities and, according to the information available at the time, was distributed through select Chrome Hearts flagship boutiques—in Tokyo, London, and New York—as well as the main MIKIMOTO boutique in Ginza. No further details regarding a potential future release have been confirmed.
