A feature that we found in several collections of different brands, namely that of making clothes and accessories with certain materials that in the final appearance look like anything else. And here is that plumage and furry are obtained through the processing of yarns, cottons processed from lingerie obtained through latex, denim obtained with silk muslin for a transparent graceful and hyper chic result.
These unexpectedly impalpable and sophisticated jeans were created by Matthieu Blazy, for Chanel’s Spring Summer 2026 Haute Couture collection presented in Paris last January 2026. That the most high-profile creative director of the moment was a great expert and skillful manipulator of matter, understood as texture and manufacture, has been a well-known fact ever since his successful run at Bottega Veneta. And now, the French designer at the head of Chanel is continuing with his experimental and sophisticated vision, gaining acclaim as evinced by the media and commercial success of his first collection, Spring Summer 2026, which recently arrived in boutiques worldwide.
For the couture show, the key word was lightness. Transparent, graceful, three-dimensional fabrics in their essential complexity. A fresh, dynamic, lively luxury with an almost everyday approach, where the glitz lies in the detail, the imperceptible but decisive one. And these jeans, already worn by Margot Robbie during the last Fall/Winter 2026 fashion show, fit perfectly into the scheme of this vision of disengaged but sublime chic, concrete but inspired. Always considered the quintessential dailywear garment, versatile and durable, with Blazy jeans acquire a new, totally unpredictable form; and this surprise becomes testimony to a masterstroke that makes all the difference. Chanel’s creative director did it through illusion, softness and restraint. The sheer jeans that floated down the runway were made of silk muslin, delicately imitating traditional denim with a trompe l’oeil technique. From a distance they looked like classic blue jeans, up close they dissolved in the air: fashion is also this, a subtle game in constant balance between what is and what seems.
Blazy took jeans and stripped them of their heaviness, making them ethereal, airy, iridescent. They floated instead of maintaining structure. They caught the light.
