For Summer 2026, this symbolic journey arrives in Sicily, an island that embodies the Mediterranean spirit par excellence and encapsulates a civilization rooted in classical Greece, blending with the Arab world and reaching one of its highest expressions in the Baroque era. Among the cities that safeguard this heritage, Modica stands out as one of the most evocative interpretations of this imagery: its Baroque architecture, carved in stone and shaped by light, tells the story of a rich and layered artistic tradition, made up of monumental facades, stuccoes, and decorative motifs in which the shell shape often recurs.
And it is precisely the symbol of the shell that serves as the central theme of Brunello Cucinelli’s summer collection.
The shell has always been part of the Mediterranean imagination: its form reflects the dialogue between sea and land, between nature and culture. In art history, the shell often evokes the very idea of the birth of beauty, as in Botticelli’s depictions of Venus emerging from the waters. The entire seasonal imagery revolves around this symbol, translated into a hand-painted watercolor illustration. In a symmetrical and contemporary composition, the stylized shell comes to life through sinuous movements and light strokes, evoking the elegance of 18th-century stucco work. The light, dusty color palette recalls the hues of Sicilian stone and the white midday light of the Mediterranean landscape. The shell motif thus becomes a unifying element, featured in the Capsule Collection Lifestyle and reinterpreted in Cucinelli’s ready-to-wear collections as well.
The exclusive Mediterranea collection for women and men explores the shell motif through textures, craftsmanship, and colors that harmonize with a light, carefree summer aesthetic. The women’s collection reinterprets this symbolism in a luminous, three-dimensional way through two OPERA knitwear creations, made entirely by hand. The Mini dress and the OPERA Dazzling Shell top are the result of a meticulous artisanal process: each shell-inspired element is crocheted and embellished with sequins of various shapes and sizes, designed to capture and refract light in pearlescent hues. The modules are then assembled by hand onto a mesh base, giving each garment its own unique character. The process requires dedication and patience: approximately 66 hours of work for the dress and about 30 hours for the top.
The men’s collection, on the other hand, reinterprets the brand’s elegance in a relaxed style, blending light tailoring with soft, muted tones. In the Conchiglia shade, the first men’s look reinterprets the summer three-piece suit with an unlined jacket, vest, and drawstring trousers, enhanced by linen with a fresh, irregular texture. The second look combines tailored elements with more casual details, featuring a linen chevron-striped jacket, a linen-and-cotton cardigan, and drawstring pants, creating a balance of light and elegant layering.
Rounding out the men’s and women’s collections is the Lifestyle capsule collection, a natural extension of the values and philosophy of the Brunello Cucinelli brand: an authentic and convivial lifestyle is reflected in items designed for the home, travel, and leisure, enriching everyday life with understated elegance.
The Mediterranean Capsule Collection interprets this universe using the same shell motif, drawn from the season’s watercolor illustration. On the ceramics crafted by Umbrian artisans, the decoration is applied to glazed surfaces and then finished by hand, making each piece unique. The scented glass candles reinterpret the motif with a double decorative layer that creates a three-dimensional effect of light and shadow. The collection is rounded out with textiles, decorative boxes, and accessories such as scarves, clutches, and sarongs.
To celebrate the full launch of the Mediterranea collection, Brunello Cucinelli welcomed a select group of guests yesterday, June 11, in the heart of Modica. Set against the backdrop of the spectacular Baroque architecture and the golden light of the Val di Noto, the event was designed as an immersive experience, conceived to capture summer through the brand’s vision: a refined balance of timeless elegance, authenticity, and conviviality. Guests included Bianca Balti, Jeanne Damas, Sarah Harris, Nicolò Leone, and Poppy Delevingne, who had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Cucinelli’s Mediterranean vision. In this exceptional setting, a selection of women’s and men’s creations punctuated the season’s narrative, establishing a harmonious dialogue between fashion, architecture, and landscape, in the spirit of a discreet and deeply Italian beauty.
