Audemars Piguet x Swatch, the collab is a reality: the Royal Pop will arrive on May 16

It’s all true. After days of teasing, anticipation, and rumor, the highly anticipated collaboration between Audemars Piguet and Swatch has finally been announced. The two Swiss watch brands posted a cross-post on Instagram anticipating the Royal Pop, the model intended to reinterpret Audemars Piguet’s iconic Royal Oak through Swatch’s pop language.

“Introducing Audemars Piguet x Swatch, a disruptive collaboration that fuses playful audacity and positive provocation with the art of fine watchmaking. Two Swiss icons join forces to reinvent a whole new way of wearing time and bring new generations closer to the world of mechanical watches,” reads the official announcement, accompanied by a “Stay tuned!” and the date of May 16, 2026.

Long lines are already expected in front of the stores for that day, confirming the hype around the collaboration. After all, the project not only unites two Swiss icons of the industry, but also demonstrates how the world of watchmaking can dialogue with the present and reinvent its symbols through a contemporary language.

Several times we have told you how Gen Z is into watches, especially analog and luxury watches. Confirming the trend is Bezel, a retailer specializing in luxury second hand watches, which revealed to CNN how those under 30 account for about one-third of total transactions. The reason? The younger generation recognizes not only the aesthetic value, but also the symbolic value of a luxury watch. And this collab seems to have all the makings of the new object of desire.
