Anne Hathaway: the Mother Mary press tour is already in the style textbook

That it was Anne Hathaway’s year there was no doubt, and with premiers currently underway keeping up with her is an Olympic sport. From The Devil Wears Prada 2, due out in Italian theaters April 29, to Mother Mary, due May 14, to the projects coming up in the next few months-Odyssey, Flowervale Street and Verity. In short, Hathaway is everywhere and seems to have no intention of slowing down.

After the global press tour for The Devil Wears Prada (which will continue with its New York premiere on April 20), the actress is now focusing on promoting Mother Mary, where she plays a pop star seeking artistic redemption. Her character is involved in an intense and psychologically complex relationship with a fashion designer played by Michaela Coel. The film promises to be a magnetic mix of pop culture and thriller tension, with a cast that includes Hunter Schafer, Atheena Frizzell, Kaia Gerber, Isaura Barbé-Brown, Sian Clifford, and FKA twigs. The soundtrack also plays in the big leagues: signed by Jack Antonoff, Charli XCX and FKA twigs herself, it features Hathaway herself, who has already released the first tracks, My Mouth is Lonely for You and Burial.

Between sacred aesthetics, liturgical styling, and imagery that winks at religious iconography, Anne seems poised to anoint herself as a kind of contemporary pop saint, at least on screen. A figure somewhere between diva and icon, capable of turning every appearance into a moment of fashion worship.

Off set, as always, she did not disappoint. For an event in New York City, she sported a long mesh dress with three-dimensional micro appliqués, paired with a black blazer, pointed patent leather pumps with platforms and dark sunglasses, once again confirming her status as the absolute queen of the press tour.
