A great start: a star-studded lineup for the U.S. debut at the 2026 World Cup

A success across the board. The 2026 World Cup has officially kicked off, breaking the ice yesterday, Friday, June 12, 2026, with Canada and the United States also making their debuts. While the Canadian national team drew 1-1 against Bosnia—the team that had eliminated Italy in the playoffs—in Toronto, the U.S. national team took the field during the night in Italy, easily defeating Paraguay 4-1 in its Group D opener.

But the focus wasn’t just on the field and the opening matches of the host nations—led by Mexico, which beat South Africa 2-0 yesterday in the first game of this World Cup—but also on the shows that kicked off the tournament. Three opening shows, one for each host country—Mexico, Canada, and the U.S.—with the last one taking place just before the match between the U.S. and Paraguay in Los Angeles.

Many celebrities attended the match, starting with Katy Perry, who was in the stands alongside her boyfriend Justin Trudeau, and including rapper Future, Tyla—who had already performed at the show the day before in Mexico—as well as Anitta and LISA, a K-pop star and member of Blackpink. It was a preview that not only soccer fans couldn’t miss, but also many stars from the worlds of entertainment and sports.

From David Beckham—fresh off the unveiling of his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame—accompanied by Victoria Beckham and Tom Cruise, to Owen Wilson, Paris Hilton—looking perfect in a U.S. jersey—Anya Taylor-Joy, Dylan Sprouse, Barbara Palvin, and Sofia Vergara.

Jason Sudeikis, aka Ted Lasso in the hit Apple TV series of the same name, was also in attendance, as were other celebrities spotted before entering the stadium or captured on camera during the live broadcast.

Among them were Jamie Foxx, Vittoria Ceretti, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio, captured on TV cameras, and Hailey Bieber, accompanied, of course, by her husband Justin Bieber. The latter also headlined a small live performance near the stadium at a FIFA event. In short, an unmissable spectacle for everyone, but also just the beginning of a dream month to which, we’re sure, the stars of the entertainment world will be sure to show up.
