Chanel: it’s already a race for Matthieu Blazy’s Spring-Summer 2026 bags

Paris, and soon all major fashion capitals, is going crazy for the new Chanel signed by Matthieu Blazy. The Spring-Summer 2026 collection, the designer’s first creative debut for the French fashion house that took place in October, arrived in boutiques in the Ville Lumière last Thursday, sparking a real buzz in both physical stores and online platforms. In Italy, the collection will be available in stores from March 18, and a similar reaction is already expected.

From the historic boutique at 31 Rue Cambon to the Champs-Élysées, queues of customers, influencers and creators formed in front of the windows. The luckiest were able to buy the pieces directly in the store, while after a very rapid sell-out many others rushed to leave their names on already long waiting lists. On social media, the phenomenon took on the dimensions of a veritable Blazy-mania: stories and videos, from Instagram to TikTok, documented the triumphant exit of customers with bags in their hands, resulting in videos of unpacking and try-ons, while others recounted the disappointment of those who arrived too late and found the shelves now empty.

Such enthusiasm for a new collection has perhaps not been seen since the days of Phoebe Philo at Celine. Beyond personal taste, this is a positive sign from a twofold perspective: commercial, but also of renewed and genuine passion for fashion. Also certainly contributing to this boost is the reduction in the prices of the fashion house’s new models, on average about 20 percent less than the classic models.

But what are the most desired pieces in the collection? Next to shoes, bags dominate the scene. Accomplice to a relatively more affordable price, the Spring-Summer models are literally flying off the shelves, offered in a variety of colors and sizes.

The undisputed star is the Flap, made of calfskin with a metallic logo, which has already become the fashion house’s new it-bag. It has been spotted on the arms of celebrities such as Margot Robbie and Pedro Pascal in the larger version in black, the Maxi Flap, priced at $9,300, while the smaller version costs $5,100. Hailey Bieber, on the other hand, sported the Maxi shopping bag model in grained leather and gold logo, also already on the whish list of many, priced at $11,000.

Also a big hit for the classic 2.55, on sale for $13,800. A Chanel classic reinterpreted by Blazy in a slightly crumpled version in calfskin leather and chain handle, a shape that highlights a very high level of craftsmanship and offers a contemporary take on an icon of the house.

Very popular, and more faithful to the brand’s classic codes, is instead the two-tone black and white leather evening bag: a clutch designed for evening, made of printed calfskin with gold-colored metal trim. Available in both triangular and square variants, the price is $7,900 for the former, $14,600 for the latter.

Among the most discussed models is the coconut-effect shopping bag, presented on the runway in a cool turquoise shade. The shape is reminiscent of semi-rectangular shopping bags, reinterpreted, however, in luxury: crocodile-effect leather, golden double C and burgundy interior. The smaller version, which appears on the runway and is still relatively roomy, is offered at about $7,300.

Closing the selection is the messenger bag, in smooth leather with ton sur ton embossed logo and wide shoulder strap, also in leather, offered at a price of $6,600.

This big boom in sales and demand is the result of multiple factors. Certainly the reduction in prices, at least as far as handbags are concerned, helps, but it is nice to think that at a time of great difficulty for fashion and the luxury trade in general, this collection has brought about genuine enthusiasm, a breath of fresh air in the dreary landscape of recent years.
