Jonathan Anderson, a child prodigy of contemporary fashion and\u2014along with Matthieu Blazy\u2014one of the most celebrated figures in today\u2019s fashion world, officially presented the Spring\/Summer 2027 collection for his eponymous brand, JW Anderson. While it was the brand itself that established him on the international scene\u2014alongside his early work at Loewe\u2014today the brand represents a personal interlude within his intense creative activity, alongside his role as creative director at Dior. Compared to the grandeur and historical weight of the French fashion house, JW Anderson remains the place where the designer can most freely express his most authentic vision: a fresh, relaxed, and contemporary aesthetic that balances irony, experimentation, and everyday desirability with a sophisticated and perfectly wearable minimalism\u2014the hallmark of his style. <\/p>\n\n

For the SS27 season, Anderson once again reflects on the creative process, people, and craftsmanship, building the collection around the concept of curation\u2014which has always been one of the cornerstones of his design approach. The lookbook, photographed by Heikki Kaski, brings together the designer\u2019s longtime friends and collaborators from various creative fields: from art collecting to ceramics, from writing to acting. Among the featured figures are art collector Ivor Braka, Japanese ceramicist Akiko Hirai, actress and model Dree Hemingway, and art historian and academic James Fox, portrayed in playful and deliberately relaxed poses, in true Anderson style. <\/p>\n\n

The designer\u2019s sensibility translates into garments that convey the creative gesture and the value of time: the draped evening gowns seem to be shaped naturally, as if fixed by a single movement of the hand; the Japanese denim jeans deliberately evoke the idea of garments that have been worn and mended over time; the soft, unstructured tank tops slip off the shoulders with apparent spontaneity, while the jackets take on boxy shapes, maintaining a practical, function-oriented aesthetic. The entire collection reinterprets JW Anderson\u2019s iconic codes through new craftsmanship and in-depth material research. The famous twist jeans and cuffed pants are reinterpreted with innovative finishes, while generous volumes and bold silhouettes run throughout much of the collection. Donegal wool, knitted in rich shades of green, comes to life with floral and fern motifs that have an almost fairy-tale quality, in playful layers of texture. Once again, Anderson plays with the boundary between functionality and imagination: the Squirrel Clutch, accompanied by its crocheted acorns, is perhaps the most emblematic example of this. The color palette also draws inspiration from nature, alternating soft, earthy tones with sudden bursts of color, such as the intense orange of the Hare Knit. The House Knit is inspired by traditional Irish cottages, while the Squirrel Knit pattern reinterprets an ancient Fair Isle design originating from the Scottish town of Sanquhar. To underscore the connection to British manufacturing tradition, the historic company Johnstons of Elgin collaborated on the creation of a coat and a scarf in vibrant shades of red and blue. The workwear theme, a common thread throughout the entire collection, extends to the accessories as well: the new pouch, duffel, and hobo bags feature large, functional pockets that wrap around the silhouettes, available in stripes inspired by rugby jerseys in shades of powder pink, green, and blue. <\/p>\n\n

The Home & Garden collection further expands on this creative narrative, blurring the line between everyday objects and works of art, as we\u2019ve seen before. Handcrafted Mackintosh stools, cushions made from vintage linens dyed with natural pigments, and Wedgwood mugs inspired by ancient Etruscan ceramics enrich the collection. There\u2019s no shortage of references to the designer\u2019s Irish roots, such as the linen dish towels decorated with the words \u201cWOW,\u201d \u201cFAB,\u201d and \u201cCHIC.\u201d Among the most intriguing pieces is a sleigh bell crafted by the John Taylor Bell Foundry using an archival mold\u2014the first produced by the historic foundry in over a century. Finally, the collection is rounded out by a collaboration with artisan Eddie Glew, who has created a series of hand-woven baskets made of British willow and leather, alongside wind chimes by Cerith Wyn Evans and umbrellas crafted from vintage fabrics in collaboration with Sunbeam Jackie. <\/p>\n\n

A collection that encapsulates and distills the entirety of Jonathan Anderson\u2019s creative vision, filtering it through the many expressions of contemporary creativity.<\/p>\n\n
